Amateur Photographer just posted on their RSS feed the following title:

"Pentax has today unveiled a 'weather-resistant' 100mm f/2.8 macro lens designed for use on film and digital SLRs. "

The story link doesn't go anywhere at the moment, though:

Maybe they jumped the gun.

Do we really need this lens?
I mean it sure will be good to have WR macro but I thought there are bigger gaps to fill

This is really strange. I followed ogle's link to a page that looks like an announcement, but there is nothing on the other Pentax Web sites...Oh...It appears that pentax.ru is NOT an official Pentax site. It is run by Pentar, a Russian distributor of Pentax products.

Test market?

I find it really interesting Pentax chose to say that the image circle will cover full frame.

They could have left that fact out of the press release, but instead they included it.

When the DA*55 1.4 was released, I don't remember any mention that it cover FF, but I understand it does.

Wonder why Pentax decided this is the lens to state the FF coverage?
