its curious that so many photographers look at this and speculate on it. I speculate about just about everything but looking at this? Its not just a photoshop but a bad one.

Aside from levels not matching, the sun is behind him yet the camera is lit from the left.

As to what lens is photoshopped in there? Not 100% but i'm pretty sure you can read "pentax 300" on it.

A wet lens and camera ... and no strap on the camera on top of that!!?? :ugh:
Must have fallen in the water, that's for sure! ...
or maybe ...
Anyway, this looks like my DA*300, PS'd (Photo"Chopped") to look a tad larger .... with a UWA, anything possible in that photo.
Good try!

A 400/4 would likely be much bigger, unless Pentax has come up with some new technology.

agreed it did look a little large.

I know its dreaming but i'd prefer a 200-400 though I really couldn't afford either one right now so they may as well make a solid gold 600mm f/1.4

A short while ago many Pentax 'speculators' were stewing about whether the new Pentax 100 Macro was indeed a real lens.

Keep tuned to this station.

One of the south lakes.
Yeah that was my second thought, right after i noted how tragically fake the image was - that it looked just like Doubtful Sound.
I did a fantastic overnight cruise there a couple of years ago and ended up with lots of similar, though more realistic so i think better, shots

yea but this one is REALLY fake. At least the other one didn't have the real lens front element hiding behind a photoshoped version.

or milford sound...

NZ is so awesome

This photo does not make me want a lens it makes me want to go back to NZ!

I 2nd that this is a bad photo-shop job, and it actually reads 300 on there to my eye.

Hard to argue with that last one, but to be fair it's not like we're the only country to have fiords like that. But all the K-7 example photos were of NZ.

New Zealand is Rugged, has wild weather, Senic, Remote and Compact...Great place too test an all weather DSLR system! Could NZ be Pentax \ Hoya's AREA 51 (: lol

In reply to the question asked in the OP, No thanx. My 300/2.8 is more flexible; can use w or w/o a 1.4x TC with incredible performance.

The latch seems to be from a Canon camera, with the dark-red border...

I don't see a fake at all, it's a real life DA300/F4 as obviously seen in the crop I posted. There might be a 400/4 in the works, but it ain't the one depicted here.

It a photoshop job, the light is simply not right. And as said above the size of the lens is simply not enough to account for a 400/4.

Best regards,
Guillaume
