The fantastic 3:2 screen is worth that rating.
I'm all for an awesome screen, but 4:3 is actually nice, because it gives room for a 3:2 image plus status information.

I notice DPR has dramatically re-vamped their rating system.
I have compiled an article commenting on the new DPR rating system and possible confusion, including a list of all new rankings.

The reviewer is obviously wearing spectacles with Nikon lenses which are making his vision blurry and consequently causing a distracting headache.
Not to mention the D5000 itself could give you a headache... It's so ugly compared to the K-x! (all aesthetics, I know, but whatever )

I wouldn't really call it an improvement either. It basically gives them a new way to spite all the cameras that they don't like.

K20d or K-x for backup camera...such a hard choice. On one hand, batteries would be compatible and you get to keep the dual knobs with the K20d but high iso noise performance of the K-x is really enticing.

Exactly my thoughts ...

I do find their percentages to be amusing though. Somehow a Canon with 65% can get a highly recommended rating and a Pentax with 80% is "possibly" recommended.

Well there's only so much you can say about them before they ban you from their forums or something.

Which why I'm extremely rarely over there

Linking to here is already so 'difficult' (what a bunch of idiots) due to lame blacklisting URLs.

Although we're going a bit off discussion here (well it still has to do with DPreview though), when I first made my Olympus E-P1 camera website, I posted a few links over there because I figured I could get a good start from them, but they instantly blacklisted my URL. It's still blacklisted actually and lots of people have asked why on there. I don't think anyone ever answered them.

DPReview themselves mentioned that the gold and silver awards, as they are called now, don't necessarily relate to the score actually achieved by the camera. In other words, it's about the gut feeling that the reviewer has about the camera, instead of any measurable, quantifiable aspect. It should also be treated as such.

You have got to be kidding me. That is really ridiculous. The only reason I even look at their reviews is to see pretty product photos of the cameras that I want to buy though so maybe I shouldn't say anything.
