Retro and environmentally conconscious is the IT thing for the decade!

This new camera will be entirely manual with no electronic bits of batteries and will be made entirely from recyled cameras.

It'll use new 35mm film made from tofu and plankton.

They have "hinted" that in Japanese photo magazines. They were not kidding.

Or a 645Niii? Upgraded to be able to use the new 645D lenses?

That seems to be a stupid move. Why would Hoya invest R&D money in a new film camera? This does not sound very likely to me; at least much less likely than a FF DSLR. They would be laughed at...

Yes, it does sound extremely unlikely.

Apparently Pentax is hosting a party at the Aria Resort on Thursday. My guess, though, is that this event is invite-only. If not, I'll so be there.

There is always a successor in the works...this is platitudes.

Completely agree. It could be one of the worst things they could do for the brand which is already sometimes unfairly considered behind the times.

You may be surprised, but their engineers have openly talked about it. They have admitted that if the demand is there they have the means to do the film camera. There are some people in Pentax that firmly believe that the films are not done yet. In one Japanese photo magazine, one engineer even talked about the naming of it. He said it will be named something along the line of "K-7F."

This is not a joke.

They should rather resurrect the MZ-1. That one would appeal to the traditionalists.

Depending on price, I may be a buyer of such a camera. I love film so much that I have made it my day to day camera. The only technology needed on top of present tech for APSC DSLR would a film winder system. Not very complcated.

But I doubt very much being in the majority, digital have so much avantages. And second hand film cameras are really cheap.

I walked into my local camera shop two days ago with every intension of dumping my pentax system, and buying a d700. The guy behing the counter actually talked me out of it. He said " hey, atleast wait a week", " see what they put out at CES , and if you can, wait until march to see what comes out then. They ( meaning Pentax) has to do something, or the're going to get knocked out of the market. If they don't do anything by then, then make the switch." So here I am waiting, again.
