Get a group together and picket Pentax HQ?

There are times when the bosses dont really know what the customer base want as the info given to them usually is filtered by the time they get them.

A group of people picketing outside their HQ will definitely grab their attention. Especially if its to update their almost decades old optics for the midrange line.

granted that cameras and lenses may no longer be the primary source of revenue but its still a source of revenue nontheless.

While you're picketing you can keep yourself warm by having a mass burn of your model I 16-50's and 50-135's, that'll show em'. They'll get right on those series II models with the still faulty SDM.

Wasted opportunity...

That's funny, this thread popped into my head when I was reading the release on DPreview for a version "II" of the Canon 70-200mm F2.8L.

This thread isnt really a rumor or news about a DA* 16-50II, only a wish list?

The DA Star 16-50 already is a high-resolution lens so no need to update it really.
Minor updates has happened for it during production, but only small adjustments to make it more reliable and consistent.
Interesting information regarding "small adjustments". Did these adjustments include ways to make SDM be more reliable?

... correct me if I'm wrong but no mention that the optical formula has changed. (Has it?)
I saw a comparison between the old and new version (I think at dpreview) and the images looked identical.

Of course it isn't news Jason - there'd be bedlam on PF if such a development was to happen for real...

Maybe someone edit the title of this thread in something like "Wishlist: da* 16-50mm II"?

Or maybe, since this thread is neither News nor Rumor, it could be moved to the Lens Discussion section.

Well I didn't know where to place it and so far, no one has stepped forward to move it.

It'd be less suited to the lens discussion forum as it's a lens that doesn't exist yet.
