PopPhoto.com K10D Editors Choice Award

Editor's Choice 2007: Advanced DSLRs

SLRs above lesser models. The very affordable Pentax K10D erases that distinction, though. Pentax's top D-SLR delivers pro-grade weatherproofing for hundreds, even thousands, of dollars less than other models with similar cladding. And none of those D-SLRs offers the K10D's combination of image stabilization, automatic dust removal, and in-camera RAW "developing" made possible by a powerful new imaging engine.

I just spotted the magazine at my local grocery store and saw the article I also liked the fact that the Tamron 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II LD also received an Editors Choice award. I hope to get both at some point this year. I may have to settle for the Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II XR because of funds though. Not a bad thing.

They also list the Pentax DA* 16-50mm f/2.8 ED (IF) as one of the top 10 lenses. Maybe they've secretly gotten to do a bunch of tests, but sounds like they're just going by the specs....

Pentax probably provided them with an advance copy, so PopPhoto could make a good review on it to help marketing. Sneaky move, if it is true.

Absolute amateur as I am...

... but a definite Pentax fan I personally can add a bit of my personal experience: (see my profile please :-) but Tamron 18-250 (although rather dark one) turned my K100D (which is superb noiseless one IMO) into unbeatable combo... and if I add my 540 flash and shoot in RAW only- any alternatives up to July 2007? My wild guess is NO!
Best and happy shooting, JR

I see that they also list the Nikon D80 and Olympus Evolt E-510.
Is it that these three cameras won the award or did the K10D come first, D80 second and E-510 third?
