Granted Flickr is not the be all end all but the HUGE number of users gives you the ability to reasonably extrapolate for the broader population. Pentax ends up with 4 cameras in the top 100 - K10, K20, K200 and amazingly, the *ist DL (actually above the K200!). The bad news is that the highest ranking is the K10 and not current bodies made the list

if the list were DSLR only, Pentax bodies would rank well in the bottom and at or below FF models.

I like 4/3 site better for getting my Japan sales numbers. Their site allows me to read more on m4/3 and 4/3 cameras and rumors and ...

You see, Japan Only camera sales are a statistic many other brand gear owners outside of Japan care about.

So K-x can not get into weekly Top 10 Japan sales cause in comes in colors yet Panasonic did so twice and it comes in colors.

I know I know, Pannys aren't "dslrs" yet the Japanese group the dslrs and all m4/3 and 4/3 sales together as digital interchangeable lens cameras.

You asked the question if Pentax had any two year old cameras still for sale brand new. The answer is that you can buy plenty of two year old cameras brand new, but why would you, unless like Nikon, you release the same camera with only minor updates?

Rebatian, are you aware the K-x was on the 3rd place in December, with 7.9% of the market for itself? It was posted on this forum - but only a dozen of times or so, easy to miss But of course, the K-x wasn't on the market for the full year; so in 2009 data it will appear as having ~1.8% when in reality it takes well over 7%.
Are you aware that your table doesn't even prove Pentax has slipped? Looking at it, I can't tell Pentax has less % than in 2007, can you? They could have had 9.1% in 2008 and 8.6% in 2009; both numbers being significantly better than the 5.8% in 2007

I don't think Robert Frank, Eliot Porter, or Bruce Davidson for example are posting on this forum. So truth be told, most of us can probably get basically the same results from all the major brands. I just chose Pentax because I had a K1000 laying around when I decided to get back into photography. My girlfriend shoots Nikon. She also has more money than I do..... :

Yes, but Samsungian shoots with a D700 and 5D as well and will gladly tell you exactly where and when and what he paid for each of the lenses that go along with them. That's fine. Lots of folks here shoot two brands. Just feels deliberately dense sometimes.
