Interesting is the "Designed by PENTAX" on the back of the camera. Like "Designed by Porsche", it's clear that Pentax is looking for a new target customer.

The I-10 looks even cuter in those pictures. However, I'm not sure what they found so strange about the zoom toggle being on the back of the camera.

tiny!

Wow. Either that guy's hands are gigantic or that camera looks *tiny*!

It looks very cute.

It's amazing that none of these sites mention the Pentax 110 when talking about the I-10. No, it's not meant to look like an SLR, it's meant to look like a miniature SLR that once existed and was made by Pentax. It's not like Pentax isn't giving out clues with the I-10 name...

"PHOTOS: Pentax i-10 digital camera hands on"

That has to be the most accurate headline since Guttenburg invented movable type. Photos of some clueless effwit holding the camera and, no doubt, taken with some other camera.

Another review by the same guy, and just as clueless as the first.

If it says designed by Pentax then there might be some chance they didn't make it and just subcontracted it?

I'd bet on that. In fact, I'd wonder if they didn't sub out the design, providing a very general set of specs.

Design by Pentax means exactly that. I read an interview with Hoya/Pentax CEO who said that P&S cameras would be outsourced. Pentax is not making these ones.

It is a nice looking camera, but frankly, all Pentax compacts have been wastes of time and money for the company in my uneducated opinion. The images they produce aren't very good quality, they're too expensive for their featureset, and every iteration they release are filled with last years specs -- no innovation.

I don't know how they can make such excellent DSLRs and have such utterly boring compacts.

Now this just begs the question, "Who is making them if Pentax isn't?"

It may be cute as a button, but I'll pass on this one.

To my knowledge, Sanyo makes most of the cookie-cutter pocket compacts and superzooms for most of the manufacturers (see also the x70, which is nearly identical to several of the competition's superzooms in most of the ways that count to the actual fabricator).

Only real question

Pentax most likely makes lens modules for these. So it's "designed by Pentax" w/ Pentax parts..
