What do you want Pentax will come up with the Kx successor?

The Kx made a huge improvement from its predecessor the Km like adding video & live view, faster fps, new sensor, better high iso and more megapixel, etc
The Km (K2000) was release on Dec 2008 and the Kx was release on Oct 2009. Hopefully the Kx successor might be come out late this year.

What do you want Pentax will come up with the Kx successor? Any changes or improvements you want for the Kx replacement?

I would say that they need more color choices, and I hope that the size will be about 50% of what it is now.

The only thing I can think off in terms of a K-x update is putting those focus flash points back into the viewfinder so all those whiners out there will stop complaining about it, realize what a fantastic deal the K-x is and get on with taking photos.

Meanwhile... I'm a lot more interested in a replacement for the K200D. I'd like to see a K-x sensor and image processing with retention of the weather-sealing and scene modes (for those who need scene modes - it's still appropriate on this camera). But I'd like a few more dedicated buttons and dials for easier and faster control on the camera body with a bit less emphasis on the menu. And speaking of the camera body - the K200D should be about the same size as the K-x.

And every new Pentax DSLR should feature improvements to auto-focus speed and tracking ability - because Canon and Nikon aren't standing still. Oh, and auto-focus correction - like the K-7 and K-20 have - would be a great feature to add.

I think it would be best not to upgrade Kx too much, only a small "Super" update.
IMO it would be better if Pentax comes with a K200D replacement instead that will have all Kx have and more (weather sealing, focus indicators in VF).

I belive it would be better if Pentax tries to sell Kx at lowest possible price rather than updating its specification. If Pentax can sell Kx with 20-25% lower price I think its specification will hold for another year.

With a camera between Kx and K7 I think that would be possible.

I hopefully Pentax comes up with replacement model for their K200D lineup, perhaps improving the Kx Sensor and putting it into K300D, have better weather sealing technology on K300D and most importantly, retain the top LCD. I know some might dispute that it's quite useless to have top LCD on the camera, but it really helps to save a lot of time for the top LCD to be there for me.

Oh, I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to release K200D Super :P

I can't see how a camera between K-x and K-7 could be squeezed in. Pentax is too small to afford any excessive cannibalizing. If the K-7 successor is lifted a half class then yes.

I hope pentax will announce their full frame flagship camera this year, since 645D is already looming its intimidating picture quality to all users, another D700 OR 5D mk2 counterpart should came to the market.

As to your first sentence, I believe you are correct, there isn't room for a model between these cameras (and Pentax has a history of making 2 camera models at the same time, at any given manufacturing cycle).

What you said in the second sentence, if memory serves, was done when Pentax upgraded the K100 to K200 and K10 to K20. I think it is definitely possible this would occur. I think the K-x will be around for longer than usual though, simply due to its great success in sales so far. Perhaps we will see the new medium format the first half of 2010, followed by a K7 successor later in 2010, followed (quite early) in 2011 by a K-x successor.

Wouldn't be kind of early to bring out successors to these cameras already? They haven't even been out a year yet, and we already want more? And yes Pentax has had three DSLRs at a time when they had the K20D, K200D, and K2000D. It seems unlikely that they would bring out an even higher end camera than the K-7 right now. I'd be expecting a K200D replacement soon with the K-x sensor, and the K200D body.

I agree, that's about the only thing this camera lacks. They're not "whiners" though, if you're currently using e.g. a K100D and you've gotten used to manual focus point selection, lack of that will be a real deal breaker.

Agree the K-x is pretty good already.
But in an ideal world...
  • HDMI port
  • Timelapse mode
  • Self timer + remote works in HDR mode!
