No, we'll see a 645D with a few lenses and not much more. IMO.

That's an overstatement... personally, I think the K-7's sensor is fine. An 11 EV range is better than most cameras out there, and low-light performance is pretty darn good, even if the K-x has it beat there. I see nothing disappointing in the K-7's sensor performance.
. But what if Hoya wants the flagship to have a sales like the K-x, They might consider upgrading the sensor and re-release K7. Well we wait and see.

The K-x is selling like hotcakes because it's targeted at a completely different audience, not because it has a better sensor. It's very much a consumer DSLR. It's also way cheaper than a K-7.

By all metrics, the K-7 is also a sales success for Pentax. It's targeting the pro/semi-pro/avid hobbyist sector of the market, and that segment typically doesn't buy as many cameras in the first place.

I forget where I read this, but there was a statistic somewhere that showed the K-7 was selling twice as fast as the K20D did in the same time period, despite the fact that this is a recession period.

My prediction is that they won't show a new body, at least not a brand new design, but they will show a few new lenses. Maybe that fabled super-tele from the lens roadmap will show up, and then a couple DAs updated with weather sealing. A DA 55-300 WR and DA 17-70 WR possibly? Also, I think they will show the 1.4x SDM TC, but with weathersealing added too.

I have a feeling that the reason the 1.4x TC has been AWOL could be due to the fact that they wanted to weatherseal it, and then introduce it with at least one new, exciting lens.

I hope they take the weather resistant concept and fully exploit it. As such it would be nice to see a weathersealed K-x introduced, even if nothing else about it is changed.

We'll see though. I'm sure Im just doing some wishful thinking.

There's absolutely no need for a K-7 Super or anything similar. If anything at all they will make a new replacement call the K-8. But highly unlikely for now as the 645D is big and Pentax is most likely focusing on that because the K-7 will do fine for now.

I'm guessing there might be one K7 Special Edition, like the silver K20D?

K7 has a classic looking metal body, is smaller than K20D, I'm sure it'd look much better in silver than the silver K20D

It's too soon for Pentax to release another APS-C camera in such a short time. The earliest would be later summer or early autumn imo.

I'm hoping that the 645 will prove to be a ruse, and instead Pentax will be showing off their new full frame model at PMA2010

A man can dream can't he?

Unfortunately, the only new lenses I forsee are weather resistant reworkings of older lenses (55-300). Too bad, I would like to see a fast normal prime (30 f1.4) and a cheap entry level prime.

Agreed. The K-7's *sensor* is only "disappointing" when compared to the K-x's, but then again so are most other APS-C cameras...
