PMA2010 - February, 21 - will we see new APS-C camera from Pentax?

Will we see K-7 SUPER with new video modes and new features?

What do you think?

Isn't that a little soon? The camera isn't even a year old.

24 FPS

K7 Super, K7x, or a firmware upgrade to the original K7...

However they do it, I just need them to add a 24 fps video frame rate.

The K10D was on the market for 14 months before the K20D was announced.

The K20D was on the market for 13 months before the K-7 was announced.

The K-7 has been on the market for 7 months.

I believe it will come K-7 super or X. Since the first was a bit dissapointment with the sensor they might improve on this one. I think is just a different sensor. anway anybody selling k-7 i look on the for sale list. =)

Just going by past release tendencies, if there is a new Pentax APS-C camera announced at PMA I would imagine it would be slotted somewhere between the K-x and the K-7 -- the long lost heir to the K200D. However, I wouldn't be that surprised if we don't see much from them besides the 645D at the show, and then we will learn of cameras to come this year in a vague Google-translated interview with some Japanese magazine

If I'm not mistaken, the K100D Super was announced around a year after the 100D, but that only added SDM compatibility and dust removal. Pentax has always said that the K-7 is its flagship, so I don't expect an announcement of anything smaller than the 645D to overtake the K-7. Maybe we'll see something like a "K-7 Super" announced this fall. I think Uke's on the right path with any non 645 body news.

Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised if the only things Pentax show are the three new point and shoots.

It might be too soon for a new (even slightly different) model like a K7 Super.

I am completely happy if they simply do a firmware update to the K7 to allow 24 FPS! Then I can buy an "upgraded" camera the same day it's announced.

I don't think there will be a new APS-C camera at PMA. Too soon. Plus Photokina is this year and they wouldn't want to steal the thunder away from that. They may however, announce more color availability for the KX in North America. Other than that and a few PnS...I don't think Pentax will have much to say this Feb.

That's an overstatement... personally, I think the K-7's sensor is fine. An 11 EV range is better than most cameras out there, and low-light performance is pretty darn good, even if the K-x has it beat there. I see nothing disappointing in the K-7's sensor performance.

If one views the K-x as a replacement for the K200D then perhaps it's a bit too early for a new APS-C camera from Pentax. But since the K2000 and K200D ran alongside each other for a while, I regard the K-x as a replacement for the K2000. Which means a replacement for the K200D is definitely due.

I think three separate APS-C DSLR lines (but no more) is a good strategy for Pentax. And then you'd have medium format above them all. And all I'd really want in a K200D replacement is whatever the K-x has to offer plus weather resistance and more dedicated control dials and buttons on the body (as opposed to menu selections).

Of course, what I really want at PMA is for Pentax to announce a number of lenses to fill the obvious holes in their lineup.
