You are correct though that there's a serious lack of weather sealed primes in the Canon lineup with the exception of the longer lenses. I use my 24-105 when I'll be shooting in nasty conditions....

Speaking of weather sealing, I never understood why Pentax didn't seal all the Limiteds since they are top-of-the-line quality in every other aspect.

Since I missed 24 mark II, are there any other weather sealed primes with focal length <50mm of any manufacturer? At one point I looked for a list of weather sealed lenses and this one was missing. The mark II is even missing from the non-Flash list of lenses on canon.ca.

Yeah. They managed to make the newer versions of the kit lenses and the new macro lens "WR", without making them much more expensive or much larger...

Aden (Canada but ships almost everywhere) has some specials on right now, take advantage of it because i think they're pretty much clearing inventory on discontinued or soon to be discontinued lenses,

The closest thing we've got to a wide, fast prime for APS-C is the Sigma 20mm f1.8. I don't see why a 16mm f2 or 12mm f2.8 something seems to be so hard for manufacturers to see the need for.
