Q: How does SAFOX IX+ differ from SAFOX XIII or XIII+?

A: "The optics in the AF module has been entirely redesigned to improve the autofocus accuracy to the high level expected for medium-format digital cameras. In addition, a light source detection sensor has been incorporated to assure high-precision autofocusing with a wide range of light sources. The light source detection sensor is an addition expressed as +."

He needed to be learn math before post something ridiculous like that.

24x36 = 864mm2
33x44 = 1452mm2

The larger is about 1452/864 ~ 1.68 time, it was about 68% bigger.

27% is some thing the cross line of the sensor FF compare to the cross line of the FF.

Yes, but SAFOX IX is new AF system and that extra sensor there is included already as standard and without need to put + in name. And this is why I think that + in 645D SAFOX IX+ stands for "wide-frame" as I wrote previously.
IBK answered to you above... here is one more link for you

Ranging sensor, a newly developed optical system evolved SAFOX IX + (ability to identify with light source) has been adopted.
it is clear that "+" refers to extra sensor to try to help AF in different light conditions

Ken Rockwell is some kind of id...t... I've never read before such sillest and funniest opus.
He is in hysterics.

Pentax 645D
And then he goes on about how great it is that the 645d uses the much more professional aspect ratio 4:3 instead of the so amateur aspect ratio 3:2.

If professionals in general prefers 4:3, then a lot of "professionals" (but what he calls amateurs) must be unhappy with their 3:2 DSLRs.

I've seen great pictures cropped to 16:9, 1:1 and extreme-wide panoramas.

Most of the things he complains about is what the 645d has, but shouldn't have. "Oh no, it has in-camera-HDR.....it has too many metering segements, too many af-points....stupid picture modes". He sounds like a cranky old man in front of the TV: "Oh, I have too many remote controls....I ate too many potato chips....I have all these channels and only a few of them are good"

If he finds sdhc too slow for his needs, then I accept that (why no sdxc support?), but that is one of the few credible complaints he makes.

I think he looses a lot in credibility by writing that kind of article.

Oh man! Awesome stuff. It would be a huge fail to not sell it outside Japan.

Wow, the 645D has a 1/4000s shutter speed. Certainly a step-up from the 1/1000s on the 645NII.

Ken Rockwell got a couple of his specs wrong (e.g. complaining about the existance of LV on the camera? there is no LV!). He slams the sensor size, it's a standard sensor used on other machines. He slams the SD card use (well, he may have a point there), OTOH he doesn't even mention the WR and skirts over the fact that it's half the ****ing price of any of the competition.

Interesting review by Ken, but mostly for what it tells us about him rather than about the camera.

And as I understand you can see this in VF too.

As for file sizes - 362 RAW per 32 GB SDHC. Not bad.
2*362=724 RAW. It's rather good IMO.

I don't see any need in SDXC now.
