gee Falk i was trying tot be funny and you came through with your usual very scientific and logical explainations! Oh well the vodka may be talking. can't wait to see your reviews of the 645d, i only hope Hoyatax gives you one to test like they did the K-7. I think you know more about that camera than some of the designers of it do.

I liked your funny reply. Maybe I didn't have enough Vodka to come up with an inspired response myself (Anyway, I wrote my stuff in parallel when you wrote yours)

And no, there are no signs the 645D would be beta-tested the way the K-7 was. Maybe, some of them are granted to famous Hassy or S2 owners. But I am certainly none of them

For sure, test cameras should be granted to all photographers participating in America's / Germany's / France's / xxx Next Top Model

My apologies if this post is considered off topic or old news, but I found this page with features of the 645D on the Pentax website
645D???????????????PENTAX
- which with a little bit of Google Translate is quite interesting.

Lots of other interesting tabs too - like the FAQ page.

Cheers

A 100% crop from a 40MP MF photo normally still looks tack sharp all over the place. Look at one of my earlier posts. I've never seen this from a FF camera.
Did these MF cameras have AA filters? Or did they not have it like the 645D and Leica S2?
That might be a big reason for it. I noticed a huge difference in pixel-peeping sharpness when going from the K10D to K20D...

Suprised there's not many people here who can read Japanese and translate some of the pdfs.

I see they have the K-X & K7 mentioned.
which PDFs are you interested in? Full translation is a pain at my level but I can get the gist for you pretty quickly if you have a specific want.

However, it is not easy to create tack sharp images at 40MP. A 35mm viewfinder and AF system are probably in trouble here and the required lens resolution at 50% MTF of 108 lp/mm is challenging (film lens MTF curves were typically specified up to 40 lp/mm only). Mirror and shutter must be dampened as well.

Sorry but you do not even have an actual camera to test and yet you can make such pronouncements. Simply amazing!
I don't know how you can come up with all the pseudo technical verbiage but it would be good if you can provide substantive evidence or proof to support your assertions.
You can start by getting your hands on an actual 645 Digital first...

He is not talking about Pentax 645D but is comparing 35mm full frame and MF on general terms.

What's that SDM lens with those extra knobs? Just above the cupboard-with-lots-of-lenses picture?

It's the prototype of the new wide-angle lens.
I'm also wondering about the knobs?

Tilt/shift perhaps?

/end wishfull thinking

Edit: can't be tilt/shift. Those controls should look different and would be near the base of the lens instead.
