This is awesome!

I've been wondering why any manufacturer hadn't done an OS/VR version for Pentax yet. If the lens is sharp, contrasty enough, I would have a hard time passing it over.

Because SR is already built in and this may be aimed at camera owners sans SR?

Sure don't know if the minimal aperture change (1/4 stop?) and HSM is really worth an extra one hundred dollars. I would say not.

But you need Pz/SDM electrical contacts so unusable on ist / K100d cameras ...

I think it is just a K mount version of the lens. They made it primarily for mounts that don't have sensor driven SR. No sense taking it out for the K mount cameras, just sell it as is and let the user choose which they want.

I know it is done to provide choice but... the camera without SR (speaking Pentax) so not have Pz/SDM contacts either.

On ist/K110D/K100D, there will be no OS and no AF !!

There may be OS on Z/MSZ bodies though

and if they messed up the optical formula like they did on the 10-20/3.5, it won't be worth the upgrade :P
