For those that don't read swedish; the in-camera lens correction now supports the FA limiteds.

1. Correct Distortion and lateral CA with

smc PENTAX-FA 31mm F1.8AL Limited
smc PENTAX-FA 43mm F1.9 Limited
smc PENTAX-FA 77mm F1.8 Limited

2. Correct vertical adjustment (translation from Russian)

3. Better stability with some SDHC cards during video recording

But this lenses has very low distortion..Negligible

So this would help the purple fringing wide open on the FA77 right? That's the biggest improvement I can think of with this patch.

They probably abandoned the older camera firmwares as they would want to sell the new ones.

I know, I know...

Been there listened to that (a million times...).

I was just being sarcastic...

Just some old (bad) feelings rumbling in my stomach... :-)

You can read about it at
K10D 1.4 firmware wishlist [Page 1]: Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review

Cheers,
Michael

PS: I still love my K10D...
PPS: And, when it comes to image quality, it's still the better camera (compared to K20D and K-7)... :-)

Has anyone installed the new firmware and done tests with their FA Ltds? Obviously, we need one set of photos before upgrading the firmware, and another after

.

Interesting that this update seems to only exist on one non English website.
So far, it isn't on Pentax Japan's website, or either the USA or Canada websites.
I'll be waiting for this until it's on a website that I know and trust.

Don't trust your Pentax to strangers.

I've just installed it. I don't have FA lenses, but I can confirm that SDHC card vido recording is improved. Tested with Sandisk Ultra II (class 4) that wasn't able to record more than 2:30 min of video before. Now it works, recording doesn't stop.
