Just that usually it will be a long wait for pentax mount to come out to the market as I see you won't have any problem for the canon mount.
Perhaps they are recognizing that Pentax is doing well and intend to release the K mount lenses first! The 85mm would sell very well in particular. The last few years new lens announcements have been in Nikon and CAnon mounts only, followed some months (or even a year) later a Pentax and Sony mount getting announced; the fact they are announcing all mounts together is positive in and of itself

you gotta be kidding me =(

jsut got the sigma 18-50mm f2.8 if had known was an hsm version coming wouldn't have bothered

and top it off i got the 150-500mm because the 50-500 didn't have hsm - and suspect that this version along with hsm will probably have the in lens stablisation for pentax mount which i hear is better than in camera stablisation and the long end

maybe have to contemplate selling both these lens and getting the new ones now......just when i thought i had spent plenty on lens for the time being
I think you just might consider yourself lucky to own the 150-500 if you get the results you were expecting, Stormcloud.
I though the Bigma was not really up to snuff to a lot of owners, but I may be wrong because I never tried one. Is the HSM/stabilization going to make such a difference in the photos you take?

I believe the advantage to having the OS at longer focal lengths is that the image it stabilized prior to shooting, while looking through the viewfinder. I think that advantage alone would be very beneficial at 500mm!

I think the Pentax mounts coming sooner has more to do with them now being HSM instead of screw drive. Easier for them to make the Pentax version with just a different mount and chip than a different AF drive.

All of this is outstanding news... but it shines harsh light on the stark reality that Pentax seems paralyzed on the lens front. Let's hope that Pentax will reveal some great new lenses itself by mid-March. If not... it seems Sigma will provide the answer. That 8-16mm seems particularly tasty... as long as it's reasonably affordable.

Now the real question is: How much are these babies going to cost? 85 1.4's have a reputation for being a bit expensive (with the exception of the Samyang).
It's got HSM.
It's designed for full frame.
It hopefully will have great image quality.

I'm guessing that means between $600 - $800. But Sigma can surprise you sometimes

The 8-16mm looks pretty slick. I would love to see some sample pictures from that baby.

8-16 - no thanks, it's going to be very expensive, and sigma 10-20 does a very good job already
17-50 - like someone (?) i just got the "new" 18-50 (basic version !) ...
85 - well, have to wait for the tests and price ...

New 70-200 f 2.8 OS - no thanks - unless outstanding and affordable ...
50-500 mm f 4.5-6.3 OS HSM - no thanks- unless outstanding and affordable ...

what else ?

Hopefully, the 85/1.4 is priced to be a good alternative to Canon and Nikons 85/1.8 lenses. As it features HSM and a larger aperture, it may not, but I do still hope.

In addition, the extendable hood is a very nice idea. Kudos to Sigma.

Well the newest 10-20 is quite worse than previous version according to reports I read.

As is the 70-200mm f2.8.

I purposely went looking for the older non HSM version when I bought mine.

What we can hope is that the non-OS versions become cheaper now. I think it's a shame that Sigma and Tamron seem intent on releasing stabilized lenses from now on. It makes their lenses more expensive and less reliable for no great advantage to us Pentax users (and Olympus and Sony users). Also, from the reviews I've seen, the new versions with image stabilization perform worse than the old versions, for both Sigma and Tamron.

OTOH, I realize that CaNikon is where the greatest market is, and they have to adapt to compete with the 1st party offerings.

That wont happen because they will just stop production of the older non OS versions to make the newer lenses. (unless you are talking about the used market).
