Pentax K-7 for $899 at Amazon.com (Today Only!)

Just thought you guys might be interested:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/goldbox/discussion/ACKY08XN4LS3Z?ie=UTF8&ref_=xs_gb_ACKY08XN4LS3Z

Body only: $899
Body + 18-55mm WR kit lens: $999

Sale ends Feb 3 at 01:59 EST (or until they sell them all!).

Is it a fluke that it's happening shortly before March 11 when Pentax are announcing the 645D? Will they announce something else...?

Please note the links above are Enticing the Light affiliate links. Thanks for supporting our blog!

I think it is more likely that the lens rebates have expired and now there will be some price reductions. Still, I don't think the K7 will ever get down to K20 price levels.

It's funny you should say that, because when the K20D was released at $1,200 I was sure it would never get down to $700, which is what I paid for my K10D. And yet it did!

Let's never say never

It just seems like there is more substance to the body of the K7 than the K20. Materials have to be a little more expensive and then, there is the fact that the US dollar is taking a beating versus the yen over the last year. I'd guess the low point for the K7 to be around 750, give or take 50 dollars, but I'm probably wrong...

I bought my K10 for $509, and watched the K20 go down to $6XX (don't remember exactly - maybe $640??). I would think the K7 will go before $800 anyway..??

I thought that with the k20d once when it was down low, then it went back up and didn't come down again for months. I don't know if thats going to happen with the K-7, but it depends on how patient you are.

As tempting as this is I just can't see justifying the upgrade. My K20d is humming along quite nicely.

Besides I would prefer to wait for the K30d/whatever model.

Too good to pass up

I started to buy last nigth, but got distracted. Checked this morning and saw the overnigth drop to $899. Got it before the price goes back up - Amazon is very good about bouncing the price back and forth. Added value with No tax and No shipping. BH is still at $999.

This is Amazon's Gold Box deal, which lasts only 24h. They're very clear on that, so you can be sure that at 2am EST the price will go right back to where it was yesterday.

Just picked up a K-7 and lens from the goldbox deal.

I am new to DSLR and was going back and forth over the K-X and hanging on for the T2i. Last night I decided to wait for the T2i and this morning I have a email for a one day deal on the K-7, decision was made and I hope to see it tomorrow.

The gold box deals are killing me, I recently purchased 12 Martin Logan Helos20 in-ceiling speakers and now this.

Oh man, why did I have to see this--it's killing me.

I almost pulled the trigger then and there but, I started doing some research.

Pentax K20D 14.6MP Digital SLR Camera with Shake Reduction (Body Only) price watch, price history charts, price tracking | camelcamelcamel.com
Pentax K-7 14.6 MP Digital SLR with Shake Reduction and 720p HD Video (Body Only) price watch, price history charts, price tracking | camelcamelcamel.com

From those links, I came up with this:

K20D
1. February 1,299 (launch)
2. March ?
3. April ?
4. May ?
5. June 1,100
6. July 1,020
7. August 1,010
8. September 985
9. October 860
10. November 750
11. December 700
12. January 662
13. February 720
14. March 699

K7
1. July 1,299 (launch)
2. August 1,299
3. September 1,200
4. October 1,100
5. November 1,050
6. December 1,070
7. January 1,050
8. February 999
9. March ?
10. April ?
11. May ?
12. June ?

Prices on the K7 have been holding pretty steady the past 5 months, however, so did the prices on the K20D 5-7 months after its launch. I don't need the K7 until May, and was planning on buying it sometime during March or April. I guess the million dollar question now is do I take the 899 price now, or do I bank on the prices following the K20D trends.

..Decisions..
