I'm holding out. I'm gonna wait a few more years and then buy whatever the flagship model is.
Maybe it'll be a FF.

I think it probably won't be though.

Pentax needs a camera it can market as "Pro" even if it isn't a FF. Like the Oly e-3 or upcoming e-5(?)

I can live with a "pro" aps-c camera. I don't know really what more would be needed to make a Pentax "pro" camera though. Faster fps or AF, customizable menus and buttons perhaps? Built in battery grip?

That sucks, you can get a K-x with the 18-55mm and 55-300mm lens on Ebay for $700. Even with Paypal fees and shipping to Europe, that shouldn't be more than $770, $800 max? You should find someone to export it to ya.

Oh, and I would be happy with the K-x with weather sealing, focus confirmation lights and top LCD for this camera.
But even with all that, there's some really heavy tax that gets levied against anything worth over $100, well for Poland that is the case anyways... so it's Camera cost + Paypal fees + shipping + Tax = alot more than in the U.S.

Definitely need to compare prices before VAT.

I would buy it in a heartbeat

  • Improved AF system
  • New sensor, less noise, higher usable ISO performance
  • Full HD video
  • Pro-level fps
And if they could make a FF camera about the size of my K-7, I would sell a kidney to buy it.
I'm afraid, all this is too much to hope for with the 645 being launched.

It's just gonna be weather sealed, look like the K-7, have a metal body, and have the AF points on the viewfinder.

Do people really need a third tier of cameras in the line-up (FF option aside)?
I'm coming from Sony, where there are, IMHO, way too many options under the A700. I can see how they would believe this would offer more choices to beginners, but there's also a couple of side effects: having too many options causes confusion, especially when the differences between models are not that big, and certain models might hurt the sales of other cameras from the next/previous tier.

I would say that Pentax went the right way by offering just two options, entry- and advanced- levels.
