K-x Review on dcresource.com

Dcresource.com posted a review of the K-x.

"Despite a few flaws, most of which are minor, the Pentax K-x is an impressive entry-level digital SLR. It brings very good image quality (especially with a decent lens), snappy performance, tons of features, HD movie recording, and good build quality to the table for under $650 (with a lens). If you're looking for your first digital SLR, then the K-x should be high on your list."

Nothing unexpected, really.

A reasonable review.

But the camera came out in September 2009 and it's now March 2010. What took them so long?

When it was first announced, he wasn't terribly moved by the Pentax K-x. It seemed like just another entry-level digital SLR. After a survey of DCRP readers showed strong demand for a review of the K-x, he got his hands on one, and was quickly impressed with what Pentax has put together.

DCRP reviews often take a long time, particularly for "off-brand" models. I mean hey, he's just a guy. As in, one guy. Reviewing cameras from ALL the major brands. I say go easy on 'im.

Yeah, after all Nikon and Canon have released about dozen models since the K-x came out.

He's the out and out best reviewer on the web, hand's down. He looks at image quality but a 5% gap in jpg IQ doesn't mean the camera is canned, he really looks at the usability and shooting in the field.

He is AWFULLY slow though, he just needs to find a way to get things done faster, reviews are always super late.

No, but there were plenty that came out before the K-x that he had to get through first.

I honestly don't like his reviews all the much, primarily for the fact that the image quality test is based primarily on jpegs and doesn't really go in-depth, and that's more important to me than a slightly more or less convenient user experience.

Maybe he was busy with other reviews? Sometimes it takes long to get a camera from the manufacturer because they have a limited number of evaluation models that go around from reviewer to reviewer... I know because I've gotten cameras one year after it was out for review on Digital Camera Buying Guide, Photography Articles and Reviews | NeoCamera.com
