645D or something else?

Just been looking at the Pentax Japan site for the new camera about to be launched at the CP+ show...

If you do a google search for the 645D there are plenty of images out there showing the camera. If you look closely, you will notice that all of those photos show a button on the curve of the body just below where the flash would be on a aps-c body. Note that on the camera shown and looking at what has been revealed so far, there is no button there. Wonder if it is simply that Pentax decided they did not need whatever that button was for, or if this is actually some other body?

Oh well, only two more days to see what it is...

Most likely this is the final production unit and could easily vary from previous mockups, certainly looks very much like the 645d pictures that have been floating around forever. I checked the google images links, you'll notice there is also now an additional button above the shutter release in that new image (a location that makes alot more sense for whatever that button was for than in the mockups!)

I was also looking at the apparent depth of this new camera. Looks quite shallow compared to the mock up bodies. Also one can never really be sure what is real and what has been "created"

It is the 645D, I understand you'd like to know faster but you're losing your time thinking about something else.

I am dying to see the specs on the new 645D!

Another shot of a mock up:

this one shows two button above the shutter release but still no button near the "flash".

With a mirror box that big, it can't be anything but a 645D

Preliminary specs are for a sensor around 33x44mm. Shouldn't it be called the 634D?

Diagonal of 33x44 is 55mm. Diagonal of '645' (41.5x56mm) is 69.7mm. Below are lens sets based on 'normal' (diagonals) vs 35/FF (35mm full-frame) dimensions.

645 ----- 634 ----- 35/FF ----- description
--------- ---------- ---------- -------------
26mm -- 20mm -- 16mm -- fisheye
56mm -- 44mm -- 35mm -- slight wide
70mm -- 55mm -- 43mm -- wide normal
81mm -- 64mm -- 50mm -- long normal
137mm - 108mm - 85mm -- portrait
217mm - 172mm - 135mm - mid tele

I've seen speculation that Pentax will release lenses sized for '645' in anticipation of the next, larger sensor. If so, then they'll all be a bit wide for the 645D camera to be unveiled tomorrow.
