That is an interresting find!
The site says it is news.

I don't know if it is a mistake - a misinterpretation. Pentax making new batches of the FA 35 that was previously discontinued, or if it is a new DA version of the FA 35 optics.
With quick-shift focus, perhaps even SDM (but that is unlikely).
The price level does hints to a new lens. With weather sealing?

848 EUR? lol, never gonna buy it. it`s much cheaper to buy oly e-420 with pancake 25mm than one this lens. they must be joking. i would appreciate price around 250-350 EUR.

you can get one from nikon or canon but unfortunately f2 is absolutely not to use what do you prefer usable f2 for 800 or unusable for 300?

I prefer usable f/2 for under 400 - and don't tell me Pentax can't do it. I'll pass on both of the choices you offer.

The price for the FA35 skyrocketed a while ago. I see yodobashi charges about 650 euros for it now, when I visited their Shinjuku and Osaka stores in December 2007, the price was far below that, I think below 300.

1/ I can get one for Canon for €250 and f2 is perfectly useable (on FF mind you...)

2/ I bought (and still have and use) the exact same FA 35f2 a few years ago for €330 (new): do you think the price increase also increased magically its quality at f2 (which is no better than the Canon version I have BTW)?

GOOD ON Canon EF 35mm f/2 (full format) - Review / Lens Test Report - Analysis, QC problems? tests differences? I dont have neither 35 but... i wish to see Pentax version outperforming every 35's for that price as it happened among 50's.

The 35/2.0 from Canon or Nikon is a cheap plastic lens so it's not surprising to have significant sample variation. 35/2, 50/1.4 and 50/1.8 are classic designs I wouldn't say that one brand is better than the other on measured performance(center, border sharpness, chromatic aberration etc...) But they do have a difference in flavor and build quality, Pentax being on the good side of the average (Zeiss being the best)

Now, the current price for 35/2.0 from Pentax is pure delirium, it's about 10% cheaper than the FA31/1.8 wihich is in a whole different league on every aspect. If you want a faster lens than the DA35/2.8, this is clearly the way to go.

The price is absolute lunacy, but I thought this lens had been discontinued for good? I can't find it on the Pentax Japan web site, for instance.
