Did you hear this: Pentax + Nikon = ???

Hi guys,

When I visited Nikon DSLR forums on DPR, there are some people mentioning about the upcoming BIG announcement from Nikon exec and it's something about join product or something like that with Pentax.

That's something new to me or is it just an old rumor?
Does anybody know anything related to this?

PS. I'm not starting a new rumor but just want to clarify this

I read in DP review that someone noticed the shape of the 645d grip looked like a Nikon camera, and as such, the 645d is really Nikon's invention. Apparently some people have never seen a 645 before.

You've got things like this post from Luminous Landscape forums too:

The more I look at these specs I wonder... isn't this the rumored Nikon MF camera?

I have a hard time believing that Pentax managed to develop all these breakthrough technologies by themselves:

- First MF dust removal
- First MF multi-point AF
- First MF weather sealing
- First MF high resolution screen
- First MF camera usable in real outdoor conditions including very cold weather
- ...

Cheers,
Bernard
The obvious logic being: "this seems like a good camera so it must be a Nikon"

Really? Nikon Started 645D? But just one question which is the big company Hoya or Nikon Corp?
Unless otherwise Hoya sells Pentax to Nikon or Hoya will buy Nikon? Okay thats more than one question.

This whole thread is preposterous. Anyone who takes it seriously is preposterous. I think it belongs in the "Politics, Religion, Etc." sub-forum.

looks like a nikon Mf?: Nikon D3 - D1 / D700 Forum: Digital Photography Review

At least on the Nikon side, they are only wondering if the 645 could be theirs. The Canon crowd is more worried...rumors that Canon is shelving the 1DsM4, which is also impacting the release of the 5DM3.

Ridiculous but amusing.

Also grip of Pentax 645D reminds me of my K100D (My First DSLR). The curves, its Pentax.

Are we witnessing an invasion of the Nikon loyalists and trolls, those minions who revere Ken Rockwell for his insightful BS?

Could be true! Some (other brands and pretty young) fellow photographers, who continuously mocked my old K10D, suddenly have gained respect about Pentax. Finally, are they innocent victims of the Two Big aggressive marketing, perhaps?

Now, seriously, more brands means more innovation and better product development. I hope this is a rumor as I think that more camera manufacturers will always benefit all of us, regardless of the brand.
