Any possibilities Pentax do something like this? I mean 500mm glass or more.

While it would be nice, I don't see Pentax bringing back the big glass until they have a camera that they are marketing as a "Pro" level camera.

Well, there is a DA Super Telephoto on the lens road map. But it's been there for a year by now, and so far *nothing* happened... We don't even have rumors about it.
How long did take them to release DA* 60-250? May we have a candidate for a new record here?

Well I don't know about the new Bigma, but I have had mine for a couple years now and haven't been that impressed. In fact, I've started to feel I may have some major FF or Bf issues going on. I've seen some great shots posted by others taken with a Bigma, but have not been able to replicate the results. Could be the photographer, could be the lens. To be honest, I have never tried it out sandbagged at longer lengths, but I may find out tomorrow.(post in DSLR section). I can say I'm either going to get a K7 or whatever comes next before I lose all faith in my current Bigma.

Are you referring to the Sigma 50-500mm (Bigma) or the Sigma 150-500mm HSM (not sure what its nickname is, but not "Bigma")?

I have a copy of the Sigma 150-500mm APO HSM. I think the only thing the new version adds is the optical stabilizer.

I do look for a couple of new lenses from Pentax sometime this year. Probably something long and a fast normal? I would bet as well, that there will be a WR version of the DA 55-300. Doubt that any of these will come before the end of summer. Pentax is pretty focused on the 645D right now.

sorry I should have looked closer at the thread title, I thought this was the new Bigma (50-500) thread.

A fast normal? Do you mean like a 31mm F1.8? Or a 35mm F2.8? Or maybe you're referring to a "traditional" fast normal, like a 50mm F1.4 or a 55mm F1.4?

Don't we have enough fast normals already?

It would be deadly expensive and not so great quality wise (not very sharp compared to 1.7 or 1.4)

There are a lot other lenses to release before such, Canon have at its fastest 1.2 for a reason, and those lenses cost a fortune. Leica have 0.95 but it's kind of the Bugatti Veyron of camera lenses: a beautiful engineering feature, but practically useless.

Fast wide lenses (2, 1.4) would have much meaning in Pentax lineup for exemple.

Canon had (seems not anymore) an EF 50/1.0 (I agree it is for bragging rights...)

50/1.0 is not even possible on K-mount AFAIK

0.9 had been possible on Canon FD mount and on Leica M-Mount, both being 35mm mounts. Please check your facts first.

Now if you are referring to the new Noktor 50/0.9 available for micro-4/3, it is a CCTV lens adapted for this mount, and has a lot of vignetting and sharpness issues wide open.

Now regarding what is possible on K-mount, I never understood the reasonning saying that an aperture of 1.0 is not possible. It is likely that for the classical Tessar design, it is not possible, but there are much more types of design around than Tessar. Now such an aperture to be relevant is another story.
