Good news. After some persuasion I've managed to add support for Pentax K-r to pkTriggerCord's library and also got the command-line version to build on Windows 7. I hope to test the GUI version as soon as I get the chance and pass back the code to Andras should he need it.

Happy-happy, joy-joy

That's nice, alas I am trying to build it myself from scratch because I have some coding skills and could ultimately help support this software. Anyway, I've now managed to build the GUI version too using Eclipse, MinGw and Gtk+

Soo happy

Cheers.

It could still use some tweaking. I'm a bit disturbed about the flashing display on my K5 top LCD, but otherwise it works.

Yep I prefer Open source as well.
Note I used PKTether and it works really well but PKTriggerCord would be prefered

Is this Windows only, or does it work for Mac?

Considering there isn't an official Pentax tethering app for the K7, I think it works superduperly awesomely

Don't think there's a Mac build yet, at least not the GUI. CLI should be easy enough to port. Ask him.

I'm very very new to Linux, but I have a laptop running Ubuntu, and I have no idea how to install pktriggercord! I've downloaded the source, read what I can on it, and and the moment I'm staring at the screen in confusion.

And I'm well aware that I'm likely being an utter moron Can anyone help out the intellectually challenged please?

Also considering the the Official Pentax Tethering app for previous cameras was possibly the crashiest program ever...

@TonberryKing:

Usually you would just open a terminal and write "make", but I got some errors on my computer.

What you can do is:
1. Install the package alien (sudo apt-get install alien)
2. Download the pkTriggerCord binary package (Download pkTriggerCord from SourceForge.net for 32-bit and ftp://ftp.altlinux.org/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/Sisyphus/files/x86_64/RPMS...lt1.x86_64.rpm for 64-bit)
3. Open a terminal and do "sudo alien PACKAGE"
4. Install it, then run it through the terminal using the command pktriggercord (you may have to restart first)

Hope this helps!

@Hypercube

Trying it now, thank you for the tip. Even with the brilliant support of some of the other members I still had had no success, but this is a new approach I hadn't yet tried, thank you.
