The next lens

The next lens I think will tell us where this company is heading. The last one (other than the for 645D) out was D FA 100 macro WR, the one that is full frame compatible. Would there be another "DA" lens? This APS-C sensor of ours has not seen a lens made specific for our size in a long long time. I sense a lack of commitment here. Gee, what was the last one? DA* 55? That may hay have been before the Beatles, guys. I know there are rumors about other DA lenses, but I dunno. You would think that you would have seen them by now.

Or did this DFA 100mm actually already reveal where the company is heading: a FF capable lens after a long line of APS-C only lenses?

hard to guess with this company IMO.
I don't think the new DFA revealed anything. Most of the lenses released recently were strictly APSC. With 645 I don't think there will be FF any time soon.
I'd love to be wrong though can't wait to see 31, 43 and 50/1.2 on FF

Next lens though?
well, my guess DA*28/2 or DFA*24/2

That's my guess. Are there any weather sealed 35mm bodies?

What I want the next lens to be

I really want a 50mm, 85mm, or 28mm 1.2f

I don't care about a really small lens, or supersonic focusing. I want this thing to be a light collector. I want something that harkens to the A* series.

Either that or a 100-300 2.8 zoom...I know, expensive and heavy, but I want the low light capabilities of the 75-200 2.8 models, but the range of my old 75-300 4.5-5.6 FAJ

What makes you all so sure that it's going to be a full frame or a prime lens? I'm guessing another rebadged Tokina. Maybe the 28-70mm?

What's in a name?

Who cares what they come out with? ME for one!!!

I love the Pentax line, (Sony is a close 2nd.)

Pentax needs to start thinking about the average semi-pro who is having a real hard time keeping up with light gathering abilities of canikon users. Thank goodness I can still use my SMC-A 50mm f:1.2 that I picked up back in the 80's!

That lens is still in production, and at least in Japan you can buy a new one:
????.com- ?????? A50mmF1.2

I had one of those too, but there's no way that lens is still in production! It looks ancient to me.

Of course it looks ancient, they haven't changed the design, but they still make it, and there was a whole thread on this recently - they have moved the production to Vietnam:
