I love the output of the K-x, but I use my K20D's systematically for their 100 iso 14.6 mega pixel output which compensates for the magazine crop, effectively using around 12 mega pixels of the image area. The output of the K20D at 100 iso is superb?
in your hands, its guaranteed to be superb.

pentax k-x in May "Popular Photography"

For those of you that think the k-7 is inferior check out the UK mag Digital Camera. In one of their latest issues they ran a comparo of the K-7 vs Canon's D50. The found the k-7 to be a winner in all areas tested. As I was skiming the article at our local Barnes & Noble bookstore, I didn't give it the time I should have, but it was quit clear in saying that although both were remarkable cameras, the K-7 was a clear winner. If someone has that issue maybe you can be more specific about what they found.

OK, I know I'm resurrecting an ancient thread but I have only just read the K-x test in Pop-photo.

Why do they report the camera as "ISO6400" when it's expandable to 12,800?
To add to the suspicion that they never read the manual, there's no noise result at iso 100 either.
I'm at work, so can't remember, but I'm pretty sure that the 100 is not available at the default setting either but is expandable.

The T2i has the same set up - 6400 expandable to 12,800 yet IT is rated as an ISO 12,800 camera.

More Canon bias?

When I compare the noise of my K-X at 3200 vs my wife's Oly E620 at 3200, the K-x is noticeably better, yet the Pop photo test results would indicate that the two cameras are comparable.

Is there something I don't understand regarding noise tests vs real world performance?
