Pentax at Photokina

I'm curious whether or not Pentax usually releases any cameras during or around Photokina. If I remember correctly, the K-m was released just around then, so I'm not sure about any other ones.

If they do, what do you think they'll show us?

Oh, and when is Photokina this year?

Photokina is time to upgrade K-7 (1.5 year old) and K-x (1 year old).

Now there's some good information.

But before you mentioned a camera that fits somewhere between them. When is that one coming out then?

Photokina will held on September 21 to Sunday, September 26, 2010 in Cologne, Germany.
(See link : PHOTOKINA 2010 - World of Imaging - Bvents.Com)

IMO, Pentax may unveil the new model of cameras that we all have been waiting for. Maybe more lenses will be featured during this exhibition too.
(Note: What model exactly, your guess is as good as mine; only Pentax people knows it)

As Photokina is the most important and by far biggest event in the photographic world, it is the usual time to show new products. Pentax did so in the past and I would expect them to do so this year. Photokina is always at the second half of September: 21.-26.09.2010

The offical English website: The Fair - photokina

K10D and K100D were announced slightly before Photokina, so they made their first public debut on the show.

I do expect Pentax to have some new bodies and accessories to show up. Expect the news from Pentax to start rolling in late August - early September, just before the show.

Hopefully they will bring something out at least as big as the k20D.
I don't want a smaller camera, I like the size of my k20D.

K10D, K200D and K20D were out of Pentax tradition as camera maker.
I doubt.

Woohoo! This is good news then.

I wonder if they'll wait until about a week before it like they did before.

My hunch is to expect the K-7 follow up, wether it be a K-7 Super or K-8 around that time. Probably in the form of an announcement with shipping scheduled before the holidays.

There may also be a K-x follow up. Although I would truly like a K20D follow up, basically a K-7 in the shape of the K20D but I honestly think that would not happen. There is not enough room between the K-7 and K-x to justify this.

Expect some newer compacts too, mostly HD video upgrades and longer zooms from the latest series.

The K-7 Super is a scary idea, not because of the name, but because all we might get is just a few new things added to the camera (like the high ISO ability of the K-x).

Would it be worth it?

I, for one, would like to see lower as well as higher ISO.

Do you have Google?

There are loads of rumours flying around but my guess is Pentax will come out all guns blazing. Europe is currently one of their key growth markets outside Japan, so its likely they will save a lot of their big news items for then.

What they may be, one can only speculate, but a couple of new APSC cameras would not surprise anyone.

Yes, I agree with isteve.

European market is the next best thing, and Pentax will be marketing their new releases during the Photokina exhibition and try to enlarge the photography market there.

I think not only new dSLR model and lenses, but maybe a new medium format and a few compact as well, will be made known to the world.
