Yep but K20D was an upgraded K10D, not a whole new camera. It may influence its replacement (or not).

EDIT: made the calculation: IF K-7 successor is announced at the Photokina it would place all flagship replacements from K10D at 480 to 500 days atfer release.

So it is very likely indeed.
New sensor and new processor are already big upgrade. If we say about K20D.

I know you guys want these nice new birding lenses and stuff, but I really want Pentax to come out with a few more consumer oriented ones.

Like the 18-135 or 18-105mm range, that is one that isn't covered and that I would love, especially when I don't want to carry around more lens and when I don't want to pay the extra cost and lose the image quality with the 18-250mm.

I'd like to see an ultra wide DA* lens. That's kind of a missing part in the DA* lineup. I think the last lens Pentax needs though is yet another mid range zoom. They already have the 18-55mm II, 18-55mm WR, 16-45mm, 17-70mm, 16-50mm, and I guess the 18-250mm. That's 6 lenses. That's a lot of mid range zooms for someone like Pentax who has such a small lineup. Another lens could be a longer DA limited, something in the >100mm range. Maybe like a 136mm or something, since the focal lengths usually don't make any sense.

A fast autofocusing 135mm prime would be lovely! That with a 28mm F/2 and I'd be golden...... That is until I look at Canon's MP-E65 again :ugh:

Where is something like a econmoy 70-200 or a 100-300 or a DA* 100-400? All these are widely used and fairly standard zooms in all other manufacturer's line-ups.

Pentax has lots of wide angle options, but tele zooms and tele primes are seriously lacking.

Right now, one has to look at Sigma/Tamro for the economy zooms.

I was wondering why most photography equipment manufacturers still launch new products concurrently during big trade shows, thus ensure a frenzied competition for media attention. IMO, it make sense for small companies to ride the coattails of big events, but larger companies can easily get the word out - and in a quieter media environment.

So Pentax can either launch new cameras @ Photokina and then wait in line as the major mags, DPReview, and other reviews do the review on the newest Canikons first or Pentax can do the launching before to gain advantage of being early and geting front page coverage in advance.
Sometime back, Leica launched the M9 on a much smaller scale but not during big exhibition like the Photokina, and it was perceived to receive great exposure by the media.

Just a thought.
Hey Pentaxie, you've just copied and pasted the exact same thing that I said in Post #28 of this thread. And I saw you do this to another person's post in another thread.

What's going on here?

Well I hope they come out with some FAST glass. A 1.something f stop would be nice. I'm fed up seeing f4 and f2.8 for their top of the line glass.
Or just let Tokina release the 11-16 an 80-400 or whatever it is, in the pentax mount if Pentax aren't going to get round to doing it.

But the 55 mm 1.4 is one of the most recent lenses...

Yes, and it's very welcome, but the speed is needed in the Wide to Standard range too IMHO.
