Updated firmware

Pentax announces DSLR firmware updates: Digital Photography Review

Found this on another site. Has anyone done the downloads yet? I'm not sure if I'm confident enough to do it on my K20D!

Nothing changed here.
I just updated from 1.03 to 1.04 on my K20D.
My 16-50 still locks after 1 spin from one end to the other end with the lenscap attached.

I think 1 spin means it spins to one end of the focus, instead of hunting both ends as some people expect to be more logical. If camera's AF can't find focus at an end, logically one would expect it should try the other end.

However, Priyantha Bleeker, I think you may miss a point since you pre-set it to be at one end. Try to pre-set the focus to be in middle somewhere and see if it searches for both end in your test.

Here's link that Priyantha Bleeker may be based on Re: K20 firmware today - focusing changes: Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review

Firmware update for K10D and K200D

I hope this is not a repost, as the news are already older than a week!

On April 22th,2010 Pentax released firmware updates for the K10D (1.31) and the K200D (1.01).
The updates seem to take care for occasional problems with some brands of SDHC cards.
Prior to install it, I must have a look for the possibilities to return to the old firmware of my K200D (just in case that update also disables the debug mode, as Petax has done with other models).

I'll give it a go - Glad they posted it

I had problems with my K200D and a SandDisk Ultra II 4GB high speed SD memory.

The camera worked with it fine, but when I put it into various SD memory card readers, depending on the computer, it would lock up and not download pictures. It was bad enough that I had to switch to a 2 GB standard (slow?) SD card which worked fine.

It sounds like this firmware helps the camera write to the high speed cards so they behave, don't see this as Pentax's fault, I had the same problem with my Panasonic Lumix point and shoot using this memory card.

@ebworthen - Your problem may be that your SD card readers are not SDHC compatible. When I bought my first SDHC card back when they were fairly new it came with a reader that could handle cards with a capacity of more than 2 GB.

Thanks and Success

Thanks Steinback, good point, you may have it.

I ran the firmware update on my K200D from 1.00 to 1.01. No problems, went smoothly.

New firmware only improved stability of recording image for some SDHC Memory card and nothing more.
