If the GXR would come out with a K-Mount module, i would sell my K-5 in an instant. But some are speculating that Ricoh doesnt want to eat into the K-01 sales. IMHO, that would be a huuuuge mistake. I would like to get some indication that Ricoh was interested in sustaining and furthering the GXR before I invest in it. Photokina was not good on that front

My A16 24-85mm is sharper, albeit slower, than my DA* 16-50mm + K7.

Oh...dear friend, can you download some DNG somewhere...?
I think about this unit...But JPEG photos are not in my taste...I shoot in RAW.

The second question - is AA filter weak as in A12 or not?

K-01 is one-off camera.

Here are some DNG files from the A16 24-85mm, nothing exciting however:

R0011168
R0011169
R0011170
R0011171
R0011171
R0011174
R0011176
R0011177
R0011178
R0011180
R0011183
R0011184
R0011186
R0011187
R0011188
R0011189

DNG files from the A12 28mm:

R0011098
R0011101
R0011104
R0011116
R0011121
R0011130

I'm just "borrowing" this space, and have to remove the files after a few days.

Thanks a lot

Ohh....A16 is rather sharp. Of course, A16 has better resolution than A12. To say, honest 24-85 is outstanding zoom...Not too fast, but really cool.

GXR is the solution

QuoteOriginally posted by Biro Quote
I'm really struggling with this. I just gifted my K200D to my niece, along with the DA 18-55 WR, DA 50-200 WR and DA 35 f/2.4 lenses. That leaves the K-5 as my only Pentax body.. along with about a dozen lenses including most of the DA Limiteds. I was thinking about a K-5 II or a K-30. But it occurs to me that a GXR would make a perfect second "Pentax" body if a K-mount module (especially with auto-focus) were introduced. So I'm waiting for that to happen, especially after the hints we've seen from Adam. Given the fact that I also have a micro four-thirds kit, it's kind of hard to justify yet another "system." But if that K-mount module actually happens, I might not need micro four thirds any longer. And the P10 module might allow me to also dump my Canon SX230. I'm hoping Ricoh Pentax will come though. In the meantime, a GXR with A16 24-85mm module is awfully tempting. I handled the GXR for the first time at a Pentax event in New York a couple of months ago and just fell in love with it.
I bought a used GXR with P10 last January. I fell in love with it. It is the perfect travel camera... 28mm to 300mm equivalent with a macro focus function.

I sold my Panasonic LX5, Panasonic G1, GF1, Olympus PL1 and I have not looked back.

To use my two M-Rokkors and my Olympus OM lenses, I got the M Mount module.

My only regret was selling the G1. It's built in EVF is superb. That said, I found the button pressing to get in into enlarged focus assist was awkward. The one button access (either native or with button redefining with the Olympus) was much easier. It is very easy on the GXR and the focus peaking (focus assist) is superb with the GXR.

My dream is for the GXR to have a built in EVF (like the Nikon V1 or Sony Nex 6/7). That would make the body perfect for me.

I would also like for Ricoh to develop a K mount module with AF. I want to migrate to AF as I age and the "Limited" Pentax DA and FA lenses are nearly perfect for me. I am very satisfied with APS and I do not need a full frame sensor. In fact, I would be satisfied with a 1" sensor (the Sony RX100 and Nikon V1 are superb).

GXR is the best camera I ever used in my life (I had my first camera 33 years ago). The control's functions are made by cleverest engineer. The body is too cute and too solid...I'm in love with this camera.

"The lens configuration has 11 elements in 9 groups. The use of three aspherical lenses (six surfaces) and high-refraction lenses effectively reduces various types of distortion across the entire zoom range. The result is high resolution and excellent contrast from edge to edge. In addition, the configuration of nine rounded aperture blades enables both highly precise aperture control and beautiful bokeh."

It's really a pretty impressive zoom from the images I've seen. I think it's the variable aperture that gives people the idea that it's a cheap zoom, which is a shame.

Glad you like it! I'm hoping they refresh the A12 prime units with the 16 mp Sony sensor because that A12 28 mm is also one of my favorite lenses/camera combos ever and I need to replace my broken lensor unit

Ricoh GXR A16 Kmount unit + DA15 Limited = an awesome walkaround camera. Even if you couldn't autofocus on the K-mount module I'd just use zone focusing plus the GXR snapshot for streetshooting.

A16 24-85 is sharp like prime...IMO. It's surprise for me...It seems to me the module has no AA filter or AA filter is very weak. I see some moire on curtains.
Somebody dislike moire. But I like sharpness.

As for K-mount. I'm afraid GXR could lose the compactness with such module.

I believe you are correct about the lack of an AA filter. I referenced that in an earlier post when I posted this image (also some nice bokeh. Makes you wish it was an f/2.8 but that might have been expensive/huge)
http://www.ricoh.com/r_dc/gxr/img/sample_34.jpg

I also agree the K-mount module would make the GXR a bit bulkier as I'm imagining it would have to be built out a little bit to accommodate the K-mount. But like the Sony RX1, this would just mean it would be portable without being pocketable.
