Hey Chicken, I would be interested if you could post some comparison shots (not much, 2 or 3 would be ok) between the GRD and the GR ?

I'm still undecided personnally. I know what the GR sensor is capable of, but I really like what I can get out of the GRD...
Oh I love what I can get out the GRD as well. It has a certain 'grit' inherent to it that I love. I was perusing a friend of mine's recent shots... he's moved to mostly working with a pentax (can't recall which body) much higher iq but I went back through his older shots and they have a different vitality to them. both are amazing and i think that both inform how he processes his shots, in different ways.
i'm not sure what i would post that would really differentiate the two in any real hard comparative way, at least none that matter to me personally. the more i use the GR the more i understand that it is an entirely different animal in some ways, yet so similar. i know that's not a lot of help, (put it this way) i was tempted in the first couple days to sell my GRDIII, but now I'm not so sure.
If you like you can check out this flickr set of mine... it's just a collection of all my GRD shots and I've recently started adding the GR images to it as well, which will be, obviously, the most recent ones.

Here's a quick and dirty comparison, 3 shots each at various settings, taken at just now at night out my window... The given ISO/Aperture/Shutter settings are sort of apples/oranges with these two in some ways.

If you really want to bake your noodle... check out these. First is K-5 with 31mm ltd @ f/2.8.... Second & Third shots are same setup @ f/3.5.... and the Fourth shot is the GR @ f/2.8. For each I only did a square crop and bumped the fill light a bit only.

I have taken my GR received last week to a week end in Italy. So far, it's a fun camera. A few quick shots for your eyes.

Little post processing done (apart from the Fiat 500 which was quite underexposed).

Thanks a lot for these comparisons, that's very informative!

It seems that the GR can hold a candle to the FA 31 in terms of details and sharpness, quite impressive.
