Wireless shutter release

Is there such a thing for the current Ricoh digital cameras?

Don't think so...I actually just picked up a GXR and have been looking thru the manual. Doesn't look like there is any IR port for a wireless shutter release...just the wired one from Ricoh.

What a great little camera though! Quite impressed with the feel, ergonomics, and build quality. Feels like a nice high quality product (just like the Pentax K7 did when I first held it).

I realize there's no IR. But the GXR (and also other models) does have wired shutter release that uses the mini-USB port. What I hope for is an RF shutter release, similar to the Yongnuo RF-602.

Yes. I really like its user's interface. I hardly have to dive into the menu.

In terms of IQ, I have the A12 28mm and the A16 24-85mm. Their IQ is just great. The A16 24-85mm is slower than the DA* 16-50mm, but I think the A16 is sharper and has better IQ.

Interesting...I have actually never heard of a wireless shutter remote like the Yongnuo RF-602. Very neat.

Would be interesting to know what the 'pin out' is for the GXR and whether or not it uses the same pins (within the USB port) that some other brand of cameras do. I noticed just from some quick searching that there doesn't seem to be a 3rd party (read: cheap) version of the wired remote even.

I just modified this remote control, essentially adding a mini-stereo input jack in parallel to the switch. This combined with a Yongnuo RF-602 can control my GXR wirelessly (RF).

Even half-press is working.

I found something interesting: even when the power switch on the camera is at "OFF" position, the remote switch can turn the GXR on and take photos.
