Tried the Macro focusing distance a bit.
Works.

I played with a GR the other day and was almost smitten. I am on the fence.

My inner geek took over and I think I will wait. My needs include an articulating LCD and better video. If it came with a 24MP sensor I'd be all over it as well because then it could offer a very good 40 and even 50mm crop modes. Combined with the 21mm add-on a compact 21-50mm with at least 14 MP would be an excellent camera.

Add in an EVF option...

I totally loved the ergonomics of the GR. A pinnacle if camera engineering IMO.

Hm, I think your wait might prove fruitless.
I think the appeal of the GR is (besides IQ) mostly the size and handling.
If you changed the LCD all too much and added an EVF... I think you would have to up the size.

About the 24MP ... I have never had more than 16, and would not know what to do with it in any case.
Maybe that's just me, but I never printed a really large picture... biggest was 40x30cm, as far as I remember (and that was with 12MP).

I think you share your opinion with a LOT of people when it comes to video.
I have not even tried it up to now, because I do not take videos... but the reviews have been quite bad in that regard.
I guess Ricoh will have to add a little engineering there.

One thing I was shocked about at first was the missing manual focus ring!
Having used a lot of manual film lenses on my K-30, I was used to focusing manually.
But after I have take a few shots with the GR, I must say that the manual focusing via holding down a button and scrolling the wheel works perfectly.
Everything I do with this camera is basically one-handed. It's brilliant!

Taken during a Karaoke session in Tokyo, more than drunk, bad light, in camera RAW development.
Cropped on PC later on.

Hi, it's not a in-camera B/W, it's a RAW processed in Lightroom, I mainly increased contrast and clarity.
