After a hiatus on PF due to tumultuous personal events, I hope to be back and contributing a little more often. I just moved to the American southwest (Albuquerque, New Mexico), and am getting to know my new city and state. Here's a couple photos I took around downtown with my GR II (those are allowed in this thread, right?).

Welcome to the Land of Enchantment! Nice to have another GR shooter out here. If you make it up to Santa Fe any time soon, let me know and maybe we can go shooting together.

Well that would be a treat! I've always enjoyed your photos and your knowledgeable contributions to PF. Didn't know you were in Santa Fe. I'll shoot you a PM if I am going up that way. Cheers.

Great shot. Did you too have an umbrella?
Apologies, only just seen your comment. Thanks and yep, I sure did have an umbrella! Very protective about my GR.

The first from a week hiking in Japan. Great, but physically demanding trip. Guess which camera got the most use.....

Still learning how to best post process the images from the GR. One thing I have discovered is that the default sharpening I do for the K-3 is way too much for the GR. To avoid halos I can't add more than a slight touch of sharpening. Instead I add a bit of "clarity" in LR, something I rarely do for the K-3. I'm sure my workflow will continue to develop with time. Still haven't had this little gem for more than 5 months or so.

A few from a recent visit to the Canary Islands.

Nice shots!
Because the lens is so well matched to the sensor, there is little reason to sharpen much. I often drop the masking to about 10-12, radius of 0.8-1.0 px, higher detail of ~38-40, and low amounts of sharpening (typically 25-35).

The shots in the last couple of pages really demonstrate to me the value of this camera for lots other than the street it is recommended for.

For a successor - I really wish I could have the JPG options of the K-3, 24mp (so I can use the 35mm crop more), better video mode, and call it a day.
