Some first shots today and yesterday with my first GR, a new to me GR2. Enjoying the camera so far but had a GR3 on order that I cancelled right before ship and still dealing with some regret. I opted out for a 500 actuation, clean-sensored GR2 plus the 21mm lens & adapter for $495 and in the moment felt like it was a better deal for quite a bit less money... But now that I'm shooting with it I keep thinking how much I'd like some of those new features that I had studied up on. But, I am of course still far from comfortable with using the GR2 and have been generally pleased with the experience so far, and know my attachment will only grow...

The biggest nag so far for me is that I'm trying to keep the thing in a velvet pouch inside my shorts pocket. The primary reason I got this camera was for the pocket-ability but am concerned about the potential to collect sensor dust... So shopping hard for a better alternative to the velvet pouch... Every time I wrestle the thing in and out of the velvet pouch, I'm thinking how I wouldn't need to be doing that with the GR3.

Just got a GR2 too. So far I really like it. Like you I'm wary of the sensor dust issue. I thought about carrying the camera in my pocket, with a light cloth cover, but decided against that..for now.

I bought a very small belt loop, Vanguard brand, camera bag. The bag is not much bigger the the GR2, has two zipped pockets and I would say a nylon lining. In the main pocket I carry the GR and in the outside pocket I carry an extra SD card, small horsehair blower and spare battery. As a precaution I vacuumed out the GR body's pocket initially, even though the bag was new. A suggestion from Moderator, BigMackCam and a worthwhile one, IMO.

I check out the GR2 body before and after each use, check for dust, particularly around the lens area. If I see any (very rare) I dust it off. This process sounds a lot more involved than it is, just takes a mere few seconds. It maybe overkill, but it's early innings for me with this camera and I want to be proactive.

I was out on the prairie a lot today taking pictures and when the west wind blows out here...at this time of the year, with the snow cover gone...it can kick up a lot of dust, soil, etc...it's farm/ranch country...so things can get dirty in a hurry, probably moreso than a lot of other areas. But so far, so good.

Anyways, great pix ...like those vintage English sports cars...nice wheels on that Triumph TR3.

Good to see your hands on a GR, finally. I had doubt it would be a good fit - and it seems I was right! As for the GR3, yes, it does have some very nice features. But to me it's not "twice as much" nice. And I'm still a bit hesitant about the fewer physical buttons.

The issue with dust is a real one, however. From the dings and scrapes on my GR's exterior I suspect that the first owner wasn't too careful with it (which was why I got it relatively cheaply). He also wasn't aware of any dust issues but after I asked he took care to test and point out every speck there was before he would let me buy, so I can't complain. I have considered opening mine up and clean it, but have so far got by reasonably well with the spot removal tool.

As for the GR3

And just came across a thread on another board where a GR3 has a spot the owner can't remove, so the problem lives on next gen at least to some degree.

This was shot near Notre-Dame around 10pm a week ago… I was at an event nearby when the news broke, I had my GR so I went there. The place was crowded but surprisingly silent. The atmosphere was both surreal and heart-wrenching.
Technically not a good picture, but that's all I managed to snap.
