I did ordered it at B&H ... I called to ask when it will be in stock , and the guy told me that they are not sure but as soon as they get them they are all gone so it is better to pre order . (could be a marketing trick but I do believe that they are getting them in limited numbers )
so I said ok first time that I am doing it , usually I wait until a camera is is way in the market and the prices are down . but since this camera is everything I ever wanted in a camera I could not resist

That statement might be true for cameras from "big" manufactures (they get thousands of pre-orders sometimes) but with Pentax/Ricoh stuff, things usually don't sell out and the shipments tend to stay small. Nevertheless, by pre-ordering you will get it as early as possible, so that's good

From what I read online, the red ring was a limited addition to people that where first to pre order the GR , not sure if my pre order counts but if some one form B&H read this please make it so

I have no clue, though I'd expect Pentax USA to be the only ones to carry them. I'd suggest posting a thread in the ask B&H forum for a definitive answer.

It's not really a limited set. It's just a red ring plus a red shoulder strap which we got free for joining the GR Club here in Singapore. The camera is the normal black one with a black ring and now shoulder strap 　

Pity the air has been pretty bad here in Singapore in the past week, haze and smoke in the air due to forest fires in Indonesia Hope the sky will clear up soon so we can go out have some shooting fun.

I love Daido Moriyama photos .
he did make ricoh famous
But this camera is superb , and Moriyama photo style could be achieve with anything that take pictures , a cell phone or a box with a hole for that matter LOL .

Pentax Japan has started a service for customizing the GR with a silver top cover, lens ring (?), red or silver shutter button and/or another grip in imitation wood or leather. Even the pressure for the shutter button can be adjusted.

It strikes me that this ability to rapidly turn around custom combinations of parts colors is a production innovation introduced (or perhaps optimised is a better word) by Ricoh - that may help Pentax build volume in the consumer range. Volume eventually leads to all kinds of good things in the high end part of the market.
