Gold from DPR

DPReview gave the GR its `gold award' in its just-posted review.

Damn, looks like the PF and DPR review ratings are exactly the same! The GR certainly deserves the gold award

At least you can say, FIRST!

As a general comment I have to say that the way you've done reviews on the site has been great Adam - the direct comparison reviews you lean towards are definitely more insightful than the average review site (including dpreview!).

I'm really being drawn to it like a moth to a flame. I'm thinking I will sell my DA21 and the GR could be my wide walkaround. If I have to carry a telephoto, will just tag along my 55-300 on one of my DSLRs. The DA21 and K01 is a great combo, but the GR gives you the same quality in pocket size.

Anybody thinking the same thing ?

I think that wouldn't be a bad idea at all. The GR should also work out to be a bit cheaper than the K-01 + DA 21mm.

I love the thinking, its what got me interested in a X100, just buy it as a 24mm lens!
Too pauper to do something like that now so I would be more than happy to take a DA 21 off your hands for my K01 - raincheck ok? ;p

Think about it, get the 21mm converter and you'd have a much cheaper and lighter 14mm set up (w/ a Pentax dSLR camera) 14+28+35, all in one tiny package for less than $1000, you can't get anything better within this price range

Does anyone have any good links to the GW-3 in the US? Everything I'm finding for it is either Ebay or from Japan or UK...

Yep! AND pocketable most of all! Try doing that with a DSLR + DA14, DA21 and whatever rubbish else...

You're right, neither one is pocketable.

Yes, I think this was not possible in the past as the sensors were not there yet.
But now, this way of usage/carrying is possible.
The sensors now is probably good for all purposes as long as the user can live w/o the latest and greatest.
