RICOH GR firmware v2.03

Hello! I am trying to download this latest firmware for my Ricoh GR, however I am unable to unzip this .frm file on my MacBook. Anyone can help me with this? Is there a free application for Mac which I can use to do unzip this type of file?

Thank you & best regards.

You can use The Unarchiver, available from the App Store. A pretty good replacement to the default app.

Just use unzip from the command line, followed by the file name. I.e. unzip archive.zip

Hi Philippe! Thank you for your reply.
Actually what I should be asking in the first place is : whether the .frm file (the new firmware file) which I have downloaded need to be converted to a .zip file first before I could copy it to the root of my formatted SD card.... or I could just copy it as it is (as frm file). Any idea? (By the way, I tried to open this frm file with The Unarchiver but it didn't work). I have been trying to update my Ricoh GR's firmware but to no avail.

Hi Adam! Thank you for your reply. I have tried your suggestion but still unable to unzip this .frm file. The message which came out was "Nd-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on the last disk(s) of this archive".

You just need to put the .frm file on the formatted SD card.

Yes.. I did try that too and I put the .frm file directly in the root directory of my formatted SD card (without unzip it), but when I turned on the camera and I went to MENU, SET UP and CONFIRM FIRMWARE VERSION... it still shows the old version.

I have finally able to update the new firmware. It was a problem with the memory card and once I changed it to another SD card, everything went smoothly. Thank you once again for all your help.

I have send a mail to Pentax and DxO... DxO tell me it can take a while to fix it... :-/

Reply from DxO

My apologies for this occurring. When Ricoh updated their firmware, it changed the way their EXIF is read. We were not told about this change so we are currently in the process of fixing the module. We are working on this and will release it as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience.

I got the same response from DXO. I hope we don't have to wait too long for the updated module.

I have tried the Eye-fi mobi card with firmware v2.03 and I can confirm that I can switch the cards wifi on and off from the camera menu. It takes a few seconds for the menu to appear but other than that it works.

Tip: I shoot RAW but when I want an image transferred via the mobi card I use the in camera process to convert the RAW to JPEG. This transfers the image to your mobile unit.
Tip: When zooming a RAW image it gets very pixelated. If you shoot RAW+JPEG it shows you the JPEG instead where you can zoom to check focus etc. without pixelation.

I can confirm that DNGs are working again with the new v9.0.1 version.
