GR and PocketWizard Plus

Tested wireless flash today. The GR works perfectly with a Yong-Nuo 560 II speedlight set to M Manual and two PocketWizrard Plus radio-wireless units -- one on the Yong-Nuo and the other on the hotshoe, both set to channel 1. This lets you handhold the flash... or put it anywhere you want, indoors or out. If in a room with a window, expose for the window, then start increasing the flash power until it sort of balances the outside light. And you might want to use a CTO light-orange gel over the flash, to warm up the light. The radio signal will go through walls -- so if you are taking an exterior home shot, you can have the flash inside the home to add inside light.

If on a budget, you don't need the PocketWizard transmitters -- if you are indoors. You can use the GR's onboard flash to set off the Yong-Nuo 560 II via IR. But outdoors in sunlight, the IR signal washes out... and it won't go through walls, like radio-wireless does.

Am very pleased that the GR is instantly compatible with my basic flash equipment. Nothing to fuss over -- it just works. Quite a camera!
