Disassembling GR for sensor cleaning

Thank you !! for being inquisitive and brave enough to try this and most of all for providing the very good technical images. I have a dust spot on my sensor that I haven't been able to remove. I had been doing a weak vacuum method but that hasn't removed a recent dust spot. I plan to give your method a try very soon. I'll post my result here.

I think the problem of dust is because badly glued rubber gasket around sensor.

Hats off to you for having the courage to open your camera and figure this out. And while your instructions are very clear and complete, I'd still be a little apprehensive about going in there and doing it first time. Fortunately I do not have a dust problem for the time being.

I wonder if there is a modification that we could come up with to mitigate future problems?

Thanks again for taking the time to post this. It will be of tremendous value and help to the GR community.

(Remove battery before you do this.) I completed a similar operation to a Canon elph 330, which was much smaller. Experience any changes to overall operation since you cleaned your GR? Thanks for this.

I think removing battery is by default.
I did it three times, it still sucks dust. Once I lost left mic, but I don't shoot video so I don't care. No changes I would say.

Its better to pull off the white electric shett from the bonnet that from the camera; very much easier to reconnect..

Have trouble of removing the back panel, the part beneath hot shoe are very tight. May I ask how to pull that part off?

The back panel is connected to the part that beneath the hot shoe, and I broke that connection...to get the back panel disconnected with the body.

Not sure how you could disconnect that part without breaking it. There are two stickers after I broke that connection, don't know whether should I use hair dryer to heat it up first.

Anyway, those two stickers became useless so I teared them off.
