Not very impressive, frankly speaking... It seems that the camera industry itself is hitting a bottleneck and the R&D is slowing down all the way... But I do not understand why GR will not wait to get a new 16mp-28mp bsi sensor .. It is one of cheapest upgrades..

I got an e-mail about a Sony RX 100 IV (almost, $1000, yikes) with 4k video...at least there's been one development today! Agreed on the sensor.

This is disappointing. Besides the wifi everything new could've been a firmware update. What it needed was phase detect AF or at least low light focus to -3ev or better. Let this be a reminder to the folks who think the FF will have everything

Welcome to the future, remember when film cameras were on the market for 10 years well this is the digital version of that. At some point the market will realize cameras are for taking pictures and stop looking for the next best thing.

Remember K-30 to K-50? Q to Q10? Q7 to Q-S1?

It reminds me of how car companies will "refresh" a model with restyling and minor tweaks mid-way to the next real generation or new platform. Apparently this is Ricoh's strategy as well. It doesn't mean they've stopped development.

Oh it hasnt 383838mpx sensor. Oh no. Oh oh Pentax is doomed.

Screw that. This camera is for taking pictures. Is a great tool and i love it because with the GR you have to think in photography, not tech data. This camera as is its perfect for the one who thinks in images.

They really need to release this in a beige colour to represent just how interesting it is.

Rather weak upgrade for 2 years old camera. Strange. I would think to buy GRII, but nothing interesting for me.

I'd like to see

1. More MP than 16 for cropping and landscape and using in-camera crop-mode. 24 would be sweet spot.
2. External EVF like for GXR would be good too.
3. Touch screen
4. Tilting LCD
5. WR body
6. Sharper lens for 24 MP.
7. 14 bit RAW

Here is the way for upgrade.

well

Everybody can have tilting and touch screen via wireless tethering ... or not? I would say that this is even more useful ...

So, I am pretty satisfied - I have no need for upgrade

How it could be? Is it a some kind of joke?

.

Of course, it has been a kind of exaggregation. It is about personal preferences, however I am convinced that tilting (but not touch) screen can be very useful.

An even sharper lens? My eyeballs bleed whenever I check the LCD. Sharpening in post scratches my monitor's screen. The prints give me paper cuts.

The GR line has always had a much more modest (e.g. sane) upgrade cycle.... About every other year, and the in-between years have historically been sort of "refinement" years. We're in one of those now. I suspect 2017 will see the next larger shift.
Though I agree, I would have loved to see phase detect. Everything else, I don't really care - The GR is not broken or impaired and frankly........
I'm just sick to death of rapid upgrade cycles. I would MUCH rather see a refined camera that worked as intended that was updated every 5 to 10 years. Fuji releases a camera update more than once a year much of the time and it genuinely make me angry.

Honestly, I can't imagine how much sharper we want this GR to be. At f/5.6, to my eyes it is as sharp as my DFA 100 WR at f/5.6.
