Ricoh GR "scanning"

Experimented today with a completely mocked up, thrown-together-on-the-kitchen-table-in-a-few-minutes setup to "scan" a few slides with the GR. The first one a 6x7 120 unmounted slide image. The second is where it started, me hand-holding the GR pointed down at a 35mm mounted slide sitting atop the translucent slide box cover with my smartphone on "flashlight" inside with 2 layers of a plastic bag. Totally bananas, man.

Today marks the beginning of dslr scanning experimentation for me and it's off to a hilariously good start.

Yep, good stuff.
Take a photo without a slide in place. You can then use this as reference to set the white balance of your light source when processing your RAW files. Otherwise, you'll be guessing the white balance for every slide.

Pls explain further. Do you try several settings and the truest white is the one to use ? Ty. Jp

Well, your light won't be pure white, (probably either too blue or too yellow) so if you have a photo of just the light source, you can adjust that image until it's white balance is correct. That adjustment should be true for all the following images. Anyway, it will be a very close starting point.
