Wow, cport, that almost costs a used GR on ebay.

I just hope my luck doesn't run out, I'm afraid the problem might come back in a couple of years or so. Fingers crossed and knock on wood!

just a good luck

Hi, I had the same problem with my GR. Because the expected cost of repair I refused repairing the camera and I stoped using it for more than 6 months. But some weeks ago I needed one more camera so I took my GR and, surprisingly, it started normally working. So I am using it again ...

Close Shutter Problem

QuoteOriginally posted by chaxdaman Quote
My Ricoh GR suddenly had this problem. Upon turning the camera on, it only displays black on the lcd, because the shutter is closed. The problem is resolved by pressing the shutter, so i will always have a blank photo stored every time i open my camera. It is annoying and concerning, since i only had this camera for just 2 years. I was thinking this would last on me for several more.

Has anyone experienced the same, and has anyone found a solution? Updating the firmware to the latest version did not help.

Thanks

Video of the problem
I researched the problem throughout different forum threads and summed it up in a blog post: michaelkowalczyk.eu/ricoh-gr/ricoh-gr-ii-closed-shutter-problem

miklog: but your "statistics" does not confirm your conclusion "the lower shutter count --> the least probability of this problem".

Regardless of the fact that everybody can reset its GR's shutter count.

Is it different from Pentax cameras?
Are we talking about shutter count or about photo#??

With a Pentax camera, you can reset the photo#, but shutter count remains accurate.
