Ricoh GR II - black or silver?

Hi guys,

I'm just about to buy a Ricoh GR II as a replacement for my Panasonic LX100 which I had been "using" for a while as an supplement to my Pentax DSLRs but never really go a fan of. I have been undecided for a while whether to buy a Canon G7x Mark II or the Ricoh GR II, but now I have come to the conclusion that the GR might do (hopefully there won't be a GR III anytime soon...).

Now there's only one question left: Which color looks better, black or silver?
There's the 80years birthday edition which is silver and the regular one. To me the pictures of the GR II in silver that I have been able to find on the internet look somehow odd. Is it really silver? Does it look as dull in reality as it appears to be in the pictures? Anyone who could provide some more pictures of it?

Maybe black is less "conspicuous" and therefore better for taking pictures in the street?

What would be your choice?

Both are priced exactly the same here. However, there's a nice leather pocket that comes along with the silver version...

Having seen the silver version, it looks OK to me, but it depends on whether you like the two-tone design. The silver is not exposed metal. It's silver paint over the metal frame, like the silver editions of the Pentax DSLRs. It isn't very shiny, so I suppose you could call it a dull shade of silver. I think it looks even more like a "normal" point and shoot camera than the black one. Is black really an inconspicuous colour? I'm not sure that it is. Convention is for most cameras to be black, but I'm not sure a silver camera will daw more attention out there in he real world.

Have you seen this page? It has quite a few pictures, but I think they make it look brighter than it really is.

My inclination would be to get the silver one to be different, particularly if it's the same price and comes with the case.

I prefer the look of the black one, but the leather case would sway me over to the silver one. The case is probably a special edition item and not available separately, like the leather straps that came with the special edition silver Pentax K-3. Also you won't have to consider how the silver camera would look with black interchangeable lenses.
