Ricoh GRii strange pink noise in DNG files????

Hello everybody....

Ive recently noticed a strange pink noise on all my dng files on my new grii. The noise seems to be on all the files to a lesser or greater extent and only gets worse upon trying to process the images in LR. Has anyone else experienced this??? Any help or tips greatly appreciated!! Cheers

Could you post some 100% crops so we can see the effect, along with EXIF info? It'll make it easier to analyse and advise on the problem

These are screen shots of the original dng file before any LR adjustments! Ive used this technique for a number of years with various cameras and never experienced this effect. I also know lots of other ricoh gr users who shoot with the same technique who are not encountering this problem?! The photo was taken with off camera flash and the settings were f16, iso 320, 1/4 sec....

Again... The first photo of crop is dng before any processing and the second crop is after processing in LR. As you can see the pink noise is massively increased after processing!! This photo was taken using the same settings but I am getting the pink noise on all dng files to a lesser or greater extent regardless of settings!!!

OK, I'm a little confused

In that last post, the second crop (third image) looks to me like the RAW file with color noise reduction set at zero - there is both magenta and green noise visible; this leads me to wonder if the first crop (second image) is actually the preview visible when you're in LR's Library module. For these examples, if you're not doing so already, you should be in the Develop module to see what the final result will be.

For the processed image, what are your luminance and colour noise reduction settings? Also, are you increasing the exposure, bringing up the shadows or black level, reducing contrast etc.?

My recommendation would be to start with an image that is well exposed (I assume at least one of your examples is well exposed) - one that doesn't require an exposure or shadows boost (since pushing exposure will lead to increased noise in the shadows). Set your colour noise reduction to +25, and initially set the luminance noise reduction to zero (since your issue is colour noise, no luminance).

It is possible that, with previous cameras, you have been using colour noise reduction at +25 without realising it, since this is the default setting. If, somehow, the default when you import your GRII images (or in any user presets you're applying) is setting the colour noise reduction to zero, you'd see this effect.

Hey BigMackCam.. Firstly thanks for your response, on the last post the third image is actually a crop of the processed jpeg in order to show how processing affects the noise. The second image is the crop of the dng file. The screen grabs were taken in the develop module but I have looked at the dng files before importing into LR and they all have the pinks to a lesser or greater extent before doing any processing. Im obviously no expert but I would have thought that if the pink noise is visible on the dng files before importing to LR then surely its something to do with the camera and not a LR issue?! I just had a look in LR and colour noise reduction was at +25 also?!
