Another small pile of colorful leaves fell today! I really love seeing these since we don't get much autumn color here.

Definitely the best season for photography. The variation in colours is amazing.

Still loving this little gem. Shot using "Hi B&W" mode. First photo almost looks like its shot using IR film. Location = Wells next the Sea, Norfolk.

Is it an out -of -camera sky rendering? So dark ...
I like the photos btw

Thanks. The B&W photo was shot using the GRIII's built in filters so it is JPEG and straight out of camera. The fungi photo was shot in RAW so it has gone through Photoshop's RAW converter. The fungi shot was also cropped about 50%.

Here's an illustration of the difference between the standard vs the hard B&W setting on the GRIII

That's a great example! When it works, it really works.

Don't know if anyone else has noticed the artifacts/curved shifts in tone in dull, cloudy/misty skies in Hard B&W.

It might be the color filter effect in hard B&W having that effect on the sky, you might be able to avoid it using regular B&W or soft B&W and setting a different color filter.

Yes - I should explore the other B&W filters in those types of conditions. It would be interesting to know just what each filter is doing to the "original" - also how the selected filter affects the the histogram and whether you end up with a different RAW file for a given histogram than you would have done in, say, standard mode.
