GRIII loose adapter ring and Hyper Program mode

Hi there,

I have two issues with my GRIII that really bother me (besides some minor annoyances).

1) That adapter ring is super loose and wobbly. More than once it just got off from taking the GRIII out of my pocket; I'm quite confident that I'll lose it completely soon. The guy in the shop where I bought it said that it can be tightened with that tiny screw. That isn't the case. Am I the only one with this problem? I can't find much about it in the web. Is there some fix? Is ricoh aware of it?

2) What I like most about pentax cameras is the ingenious use of their multiple dials which they call hyper program. One dial is for Av, the other automatically switches to Tv mode when used. Now there are 3 (ok, 2 and a half) dials on this camera and still I'm unable to have anything similar to good old hyper program; even worse - the thumb wheel seems to have no use at all in some modes. Am I missing something? Is there a way to make the camera behave like pentax DSLRs?

RE: your first issue, the ring fell off my GR-III yesterday, and I had to bend it back into shape to make it fit. The store where I bought the camera was nearby so I took it in. The guy said just to make sure the white dot on the ring and the white dot on the camera are lined up before twisting. Mine seems fairly secure now, but that may be because it's still a bit mis-shapen!

My ring falls off easily too. Especially when I'm putting the camera away into the GC-9 case (it's a bit tight). I almost lost a ring at the festival. I eventually just took it off and kept it in my pocket. Ring is definitely locked in place, but it's easily moves back into the unlock position.

Another little quip I found - the wheel gets in the way and I constantly find my exposure either too high or too low (I'm pretty much locked into manual mode with auto iso, so wheel controls the exposure compensation). I guess with time I'll build muscle memory and it won't happen too often.
