The LCD Monitor stays black in all modes except U1, U2, U3

...and I can't figure out why.

Any help would be appreciated!

Which camera model? I can get the camera to do that on my GR III as such: custom options -> shooting info display, and then uncheck all but the blank screen options. If you uncheck all options, you can't exit the menu, but otherwise the display button can't go between screen off and another option, so it stays on screen off.

I'm not familiar with the interface, but is there an "Info" button or something similar that accesses a quick-settings menu? Try pressing it twice in case it works like the KP and allows you to cycle through multiple views. You probably have it set to LCD off, while the custom user modes are set to the default screen.

Ok, I tried what you suggested as best I could, but to no avail. Can you explain this a bit more?

Go to P or another mode that's not a custom one. Go under custom settings to shooting mode. See which columns have the check mark that they're enabled. If only the last one (screen off) is checked and the others are off, I get the behavior you're describing, so you can enable another screen mode. Hope this helps, otherwise try resetting the camera to factory settings?

Confused... If the screen is black how will they navigate menus.

The menus work. The screen is blank when trying to shoot in any mode other than the “U” modes.

Nothing worked so had to do a full reset. Not fun, but since I’ve only had the camera a few days, not too bad.

Thanks anyway!

That is only when taking pictures, menus are still available when pressing menu.
