The GV1 is inexpensive for what it is, it's probably worth it if you really want a viewfinder, however I almost always use the JJC thumb grip which uses up the hot shoe.

I will say the highlight-weighted metering makes the GRIII a little better than previous models for shooting with the screen turned off.
